Stuffed Tinda Masala



Tinda is also known as Indian round gourd, apple gourd or Indian Baby Pumpkin . Tinda is also called "tindsi" in Rajasthan. In Marathi, it is called "dhemase". In Sindhi language, it is called "meha".

It contains antioxidants like carotenoids and many anti-inflammatory agents, which are effective in controlling blood pressure, heart diseases and strokes. It can also prevent cancer.Tinda is available mostly in the spring. A water-rich vegetable, it keeps your body cool and healthy, increases urinary flow which helps excrete toxins from the kidney. It also contains a lot of fiber, which helps in digestion, relieves stomach acidity and prevents constipation. Some research indicates it is also very good for healthy skin and hair.



Ingradients :-

  • Tinda - 500 grams
  • Turmeric powder - 1 tbsp
  • Coriander powder - 4 tbsp
  • Red chilli powder - 2 tbsp
  • Salt to taste
  • Oil 
  • Butter 
  • Cumin seeds - 1 tbsp
  • Onion chopped - 2 Large
  • Tomatoes chopped - 2 medium
  • Green Chillies chopped - 2 
  • Kasturi Methi - 1 tbsp crushed
  • Garam Masala -1 tbsp
  • Sugar - 1/2 tbsp
  • Black pepper - 2
  • Laung - 2
  • milk - 1/2 cup
  • Boiled Potato - 1 Large

Procedure :-

  • Peel off the tinda and then wash them nicely.
  • Cut the top and keep it for use later as cap; remove the seeds and other tender parts from inside to use it for stuffing.
  • For Stuffing take potato , tender parts of tinda that were removed and mash it . Add salt, red chilli powder, coriander powder, garam masala, and mix them.
  • Heat oil in kadai or pan for fry tinda. When oil is hot put tinda into it. Fry them till golden brown and take them out on absorbent paper.
  • Fill tinda with potato stuffing and cover with top of tinda and fix with toothpick and put aside.
  • Now heat pan and pour 2 tbsp oil .
  • When oil is hot enough for cooking add cumin seeds, Black Pepper, Laung, Green chillies, Stir and saute them for 2 minutes.
  • Now add chopped onion and saute it till it becomes translucent.
  • Add chopped tomatoes and saute for 7-8 minutes.Now put mixture aside for cool.
  • Now grind mixture with milk in mixer.
  • Heat oil in pan and add butter.
  • Add grind mixture to pan and stir and saute it for 5 minutes.
  • Now Add red chilli powder, coriander powder, turmeric powder and saute them for 10-15 minutes.
  • Now add water and stuffed tinda in pan  and cover the pan with lid.
  • Cook for 15 minutes. Now add salt,sugar,garam masala and kasturi methi. And mix them well.
  • Cook for 5 minutes more and Turn off the flame.
  • Serve hot with roti,tandoori roti, naan, paranthas.
