Khatte Mithe Pohe



Poha, commonly known as Aval in Kannada, Flattened rice in English, is rice which is flattened into flat, light, dry flakes originating from the Indian subcontinent. Rice is parboiled before flattening so that poha can be made with very less cooking. Poha is a popular Indian breakfast dish that you can make at home easily. Poha contains 194g nutrition. It contains very less fat. So, very good option for breakfast. Poha contains vitamin B1 which balance our blood sugar. 




Ingradients:-

  • Poha - 2 cup
  • Onion - 1
  • Tomato - 1
  • Green Chili - 1
  • Peas - 1/2 cup
  • Boiled Potato - 1/2 cup
  • Peanuts - 1/4 cup
  • Oil - 2 tbsp
  • Mustard seeds - 1 tbsp
  • Red Chilli Powder - 3/4 tbsp
  • Turmeric Powder - 1/4 tbsp
  • Lemon Juice - 1 tbsp
  • Sugar - 1 tbsp
  • Salt - To taste
  • Bhujiya Namkin

Procedure :-

  • To make poha, Take flatten rice. Add them to a bowl or strainer or colander. 
  • Rinse quickly with water. Not letting it soak too long in water. Drain the water completely. 
  • Now cut onion, tomato, green chilli,boiled potato in small pieces.
  • Heat the pan and oil into it.
  • Now, add Mustard seeds, when they begin to pop, add onions and peanuts.
  • When onions are light brown add tomato, green chilli, peas.
  • Saute vegetables till they become soft.
  • Add red chilli powder, turmeric powder, sugar, salt to rinsed Poha.
  • Run your fingers through the poha to break the lumps & mix the spices.
  • Now, add spiced poha to pan and mix well.
  • Saute till mixed well and heated through  for 5-6 minutes.
  • Add lemon juice and mix well.
  • Cook for 3-4 minutes and shut off the heat.
  • Serve hot Poha with sprinkle Bhujiya Namkin over it. You can garnish with coriander leaves.
